Sandara Park recently opened up about her insecurities while she was still a member of 2NE1 and how she felt after the group disbanded in 2016. In an episode of Video Star, Dara shed tears as she shared her feelings of inadequacy compared to her members.
The former 2NE1 member said that being a Kpop idol had its fair share of challenges and while she was happy to be with her members, she often felt like she did not measure up to the talents of her members CL, Park Bom and Minzy, making her afraid and insecure all the time, All Kpop reported.
"I only realized how foolish I was after the disbandment. When we were promoting, I thought that I wasn't needed in the team. The members had such talented vocals that it made me think that if I sang more, it would cause harm, so I didn't enjoy it," Dara said.
Dara added that she faced a difficult time after they disbanded and thought negatively for two to three years, unsure of what her next step would be because she did not believe that she can stand alone. She said that during the lowest points of her life, communications between her and people she used to know in the past have been cut off. However, she gradually began to find happiness. She said that she is grateful for the friends who stuck by her whom she considers her people.
After 2NE1's disbandment, members embarked on their solo careers. Minzy was the first to launch her solo album, while Park Bom debuted as a solo act with the album Spring last year. Dara was featured in one of her songs for the album. They also recently collaborated on the song First Snow and performed a duet for the ballad track.
CL also made a comeback late last year after leaving YG Entertainment. She is reportedly working on new music.
Dara was the only one to remain with YG Entertainment as her career took a different direction. She was launched as an actress with the musical film One Step, and also appeared as a supporting character for the film version of Cheese in the Trap with Park Hae Jin and Oh Yeon Seo. Both films received positive reviews from fans.
Dara is also active as an emcee of beauty and variety shows. She hosted Get it Beauty, All Broadcasting in the World, Relationship Appeal, and Mimi Shop. She also appeared as a cast member of Outrageous Roommate along with Bloc B's P.O. and comedian Se Ho. She is currently one of the emcees of Video Star and a mentor at Stage K. She also runs a vlog channel on YouTube called Dara TV.
