A three-year-old girl's fairy tale dreams of meeting a real princess was shattered by Kate Middleton. Meeting her in person had been less than impressive for young Annabel.

She was with her mother, Rhian Costello, as they waited outside to catch a glimpse of the Duchess of Cambridge at the RNLI Mumbles Lifeboat Station in Swansea. Annabel was expecting to see someone like Cinderella in her gorgeous gown but, instead, there was Kate in her maxi knitted dress under a navy coat and pink scarf with heart prints.

Upon learning that Annabel hoped she would see a Disney princess, Kate had to apologize to her young fan. The duchess told her that she was sorry she didn't wear a pretty dress for her visit to Swansea.

However, Annabel's mom said that the little girl was still "so taken" by the Duchess of Cambridge. The young royal fan was able to give the real princess a big hug and Kate reciprocated by embracing the little girl as well.

Rhian said that the duchess was "very, very natural" when she talked to the people waiting to see her and Prince William. The mom said that Kate was quite lovely and sweet, especially to the kids.

Meanwhile, Kate did look like a gorgeous princess in a dress she wore for the BAFTA last Sunday, Feb. 3. The Duchess of Cambridge looked stunning as she re-wore an old Alexander McQueen gown in white and gold. She had this gown for a 2012 trip to Malaysia.

Kate joined her husband who wore a traditional tuxedo. The Duke of Cambridge, who has been the president of the film association since 2010, was there to present an award to producer Kathleen Kennedy.

At the ceremony, Kate and Prince William mingled with Hollywood A-listers like Renee Zellweger, Joaquin Phoenix and Charlize Theron. The duchess also talked to some directors and producers, including Waad al Kateab whose documentary, Sama, won that night.

Kate told the director that she was really heartbroken over the powerful story of Sama. She also congratulated the director for being an inspiration to every woman.

Meanwhile, some stars got away with mocking jokes about the royal family at the BAFTA. Brad Pitt, for instance, said in his speech after winning an actor recognition that he's naming the trophy "Harry" since it's going back to the United States.

Prince William and Kate, however, took the jokes good-naturedly. The Duke of Cambridge even cracked a joke about the royal family as well. He said that he wasn't sure if he should be proud that a lot of the former BAFTA winners portrayed members of his family in films and TV shows.
