The nCov (coronavirus) outbreak in China caused several analysts to give some negative predictions about the production and release of products, particularly that of Apple. The Cupertino tech giant has several facilities and products components' suppliers in the affected region, which has already stopped operation because of the outbreak. Despite this, it appears that Apple is releasing its products before the first quarter of the year ends, with one of them being the Apple AirTags.

Apple AirTags

Since last year, we have heard rumors that the Cupertino company would release a tracking product that would function like Tile. Last year, 9to5mac reported about this as it discovered some code making reference to a product that could serve as small trackers when attached to devices and personal stuff or everyday items. TFI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo last year also said that Apple might release the AirTags in the first quarter of 2020.

AirTags: How Does It Work?

Based on earlier reports, Apple AirTags are described as small tracking tiles that utilize Bluetooth connectivity to track items it is attached to. Adero and Tile are some products that might offer similar functions as the Apple AirTags. Presumably, the major difference between these trackers is that Apple's mode is deeply integrated with its devices.

Reports have it that the AirTags would feature built-in chips that would connect it to an iPhone or a linked Apple device. Users could track location with AirTags using Mac, iPad, or an iPhone. It would function like the Find My iPhone and would show up on the Items tab and Find My App.

AirTags would transform Find My app into a place for anything the user wants to locate. The app would show a map where these devices or things are currently positioned.

AirTags: Design

According to MacRumors, the images it discovered on the internal build of iOS 13 reveals the design of the Apple AirTags. It is circular in shape and comes with an Apple logo in front. Think of it as ECG monitoring electrodes that are placed on the patient's chest when the doctors want to see the activity of the heart. When it comes to accuracy, rumors have it that the AirTags could be more accurate than other Bluetooth trackers.

Apple reportedly equipped with support for ultra wideband technology, which provides more indoor accuracy compared to Bluetooth. This kind of technology is now on the current generation of Apple iPhones. But, it is worth noting that these details about the AirTags are not official. It is wise to take this information with a good measure of salt and with skepticism.
