Outlander season 5 is arriving on Starz this week and will feature the emotional and heartwarming wedding of Roger Wakefield and Brianna Fraser. Her parents, Jamie and Claire, attend the ceremony; they initially thought they would miss their daughter's wedding. However, even though this is a celebration for the family, there are still problems waiting for them this season.

Speaking to Vogue, Caitriona Balfe (Claire) said her character has gone through an emotional process. Claire left her daughter in the 20th century, and she thought she would miss one of the most important days in Brianna's life. She said Roger and Brianna love each other and they're a great match. Also, Claire will help Brianna with her wedding dress in Outlander season 5.

Meanwhile, Sophie Skelton (Brianna) revealed that her wedding dress has a touching back story. She told Vogue they wanted to show that it's one of Jocasta's dresses that had been reconfigured for a wedding. The actress also shared they tried to get the '60s and '70s vibe, making it more unique and not just a conventional wedding dress.

As for Jamie and Roger, their relationship will be more complex in the upcoming Outlander season 5. Richard Rankin (Roger) revealed to Radio Times that his relationship with Sam Heughan's (Jamie) character would evolve in the latest installment. He teased there would be a huge element this time, and their story will be an "exciting one."

However, Roger and Jamie's relationship will constantly change, and they'll have their ups and downs. In the previous season, Jamie initially thought Roger was the one who raped Brianna, not the evil pirate Stephen Bonnet. The two didn't start on the best foot, so there might still be some conflict between them in the upcoming installment.

What happened to Brianna is one of the most devastating scenes in the series. And even though she'll be celebrating her wedding in Outlander season 5, the ghosts from her past continue to hunt her. The trauma Stephen brought will live in her life. Despite that, she has to deal with everything and will try to move forward to be a mother and a wife.

Rankin also shared that Outlander season 5 will open a peaceful note for Brianna and Roger in the new life. In the beginning, Roger is happy; he became part of the Fraser family. However, one of the stories that will unfold in the new season would make them think about their lives before. They have to decide whether or not they should go back to their own time.

Outlander season 5 will premiere this coming Sunday, Feb. 16, on Starz. The following day, Monday, Feb. 17, the series will be available to watch on Amazon Prime.
