There is no doubt how lovable our dogs can be. With how they welcome us with kisses and hugs whenever we come home from work or school, comfort us through difficult times, and with how they can make us feel loved no matter how unlovable we can sometimes be, makes it all hard not to fall in love with such a warm soul. But are there any proofs that could show us whether they also love us back or not?
GAZES DEEP INTO YOUR EYES
Researchers claim that one of the ways dogs show their love towards their humans is by giving them their deepest and most loving gaze. One of these researchers is Dr. Brian Hare, a Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience at Duke University who is also the writer of the book entitled The Genius of Dogs.
According to the author, when your pooch is looking very deeply into your eyes, what he is doing is "hugging you with his eyes". But it is crucial to remember that this can only apply to your beloved and closest pooch alone. Direct eye contact towards other dogs that don't know you might only put you in danger. Pet behaviorists claim that whenever a person looks an unfamiliar dog into his eyes, the pooch considers it as a threat and would become agitated or challenged instead, as explained by iHeartDogs.
LEANS ON YOU
Have you noticed your furball pressing his weight on you while you're doing something? It is not just their way to get your attention or to make you fall for their cuteness. Experts say it is their way to show their affection and love towards their owners. So be alert whenever they're trying to do this as you surely would want to return the hug to them too.
SLEEPS WITH YOU
Gregory Berns, the author of How Dogs Love Us and also one of the neuroscientists at Emory University, showed how dogs' brain responds to certain situations using MRI. Through the years of his study, Berns finally found out how those pooches who sleep with their humans display the most trust and love towards them. Furthermore, Berns also explains that as soon as your dog decides to sleep in your bed, it only goes to show your pooch is already treating you as a part of their pack, as reported by Bustle.
If you don't allow your dogs to sleep inside your room, don't fret. There are still ways on how you can show your affection to them too. You can stay longer on the couch for cuddles or even stay on the floor for a short snuggling-up time. Choose the best you and your dog are comfortable with.
