Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are, recently, spotted all smiles in Canada. But, before they looked happy, they underwent the stress of saying goodbye to their royal lives. Royal sources even claimed that the royal family is disappointed in their decision to step back from their royal duties, saying their announcement is like "pressing the nuclear button."

Earlier this year, the Sussexes surprised the world when they announced their decision to step down as senior members of the royal family on their official Instagram account, the Sussex Royal. However, despite their royal exit, they said they wanted to "carve out a progressive new role" within the monarchy.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also wished to "become financially independent" but continuously show their full support to Queen Elizabeth II. According to Express, their bombshell announcement was then followed by a Sandringham summit, resulting in the stripping off of their HRH titles. They are not also able to continue their other royal duties.

In a speech, the Duke of Sussex said he wanted to continue serving his grandmother without public funding but it wasn't possible. He also aimed to carry on his military duties, but that, too, is not allowed.

Some people saw Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's move to post their announcement on Instagram as impulsive, especially when news emerged that senior royals, including Queen Elizabeth, were never informed about the matter. The Daily Mail noted that a royal source even compared their action to "pressing the nuclear button."

A different royal insider also told the publication that their decision was "unfair" to Queen Elizabeth. "It's deeply unfair to the Queen who doesn't deserve to be treated this way. It is a shoddy way to treat her," the tipster said. "The family understands that they want to do something different and is perfectly willing to help them. People are just devastated."

Anyhow, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seemed to be happy with their decision. TMZ noted that the royal couple was seen together all smiles on Valentine's Day, although they weren't with their nine-month-old son, Archie.

It was the first time that they were seen in public after the controversial Megxit. Multiple reports revealed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were out in California, and probably in other states, for about a week. They made a stop at Stanford and met the place's professors to talk about the new charity they are starting, which might be in collaboration with its university.
