In recent days, the jailbreaking community saw a series of releases from independent developers that provided the tools to unlock iPhones and iPads running on iOS 13 and up. What's remarkable with the development is that more iOS devices are being covered as old and new models are included for potential unlocking and customization.
The latest jailbreaking tool to come out was from the hacking group Unc0ver, which just made available Version 4.0.0 that is designed for devices powered by A12 and A13 Bionic chips. The jailbreak can be used on iPhones and iPads running on iOS 13.3, and only a few days after an update has been announced.
Unc0ver is now Version 4.0.2 and according to iClarified, the new jump is considered a minor one, mainly released for WebContent injection and to fix the support for devices not yet on iOS 13.3. That means the process will work beginning from iOS 13 and up to iOS 13.2.3.
As always the case, Unc0ver leader @Pwn20wned was the one who brought the good news, advising that for those interested, the updated tool is now ready to download and install. It was mentioned in the same report that for most jailbreak fans, those already on iOS 13.3, the latest Unc0ver jailbreak will work on the newest iPhone and iPad releases.
And that is the case is now because of the exploit that was originally identified by security researcher Brandon Azad.
Now in the continuing expansion of the jailbreak coverage, it appeared that the Chimera jailbreak would also get a significant bump up soon. According to WCCFTech, the planned step up will extend the reach of the jailbreak solution to older iPad models, meaning that from A12 and A13 previous generations of the Apple tablet will be covered as well.
Picking up on the Twitter tease from CoolStar, who is thought to part of the group responsible for the Chimera jailbreak, the same report indicated that iPad models on A9 to A11 mobile processors will soon be compatible for possible jailbreaking.
This is good news for jailbreak fans that have been wanting to use the tool on the first-generation iPad Pro and the sixth generation original iPad. As the report noted, the Chimera upgrade will serve to complement the Checkra1n jailbreak, which is readily available but in a limited scope, working only for the iPad Mini models and the iPad Air.
CoolStar is expected to drop the new Chimera in the coming weeks, and there were suggestions that from that work, the dev will next tinker with the iPadOS 13.3 so that the Chimera jailbreak can be used too on models powered by the A12 and A13 Bionic chips.
