Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will officially step down as senior members of the royal family next month. However, they still have to complete their royal duties before the changes in their status and living arrangements take effect. So, when will the Sussexes return to the U.K. and do the final round of their royal engagements?
According to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's spokeswoman, they will return to the U.K. to do some public engagements later this month before they officially step back from their royal duties on March 31. From this date onward, their office at Buckingham Palace will be closed, and they will only be represented through their U.K charity. Their arrangement will be then under a 12-month review, per Express.
Before they officially leave the monarchy, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will have to take part in, at least, six official engagements. Harry has to attend different events from Feb. 28 to March 5. It includes visiting the recording session of the famed rock legend Jon Bon Jovi and the Invictus Games Choir.
He will be joined by his wife for another event at the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate International Women's Day on March 8. Their last and final engagement will be to join the royal family at the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey on March 9.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's spokeswoman also revealed that the royal couple would announce the further details of their new non-profit organization later this year. They, too, will continue working on their existing patronages as they are planning their engagements in the U.K. and the Commonwealth throughout 2020.
Aside from that, Prince Harry will keep his military roles of Major, Lieutenant Commander, and Squadron Leader. Buckingham Palace confirmed this news in a statement but cleared that during the 12-month review, he couldn't use these honorary military positions. "No new appointments will be made to fill these roles before the review is completed," it said.
Prince Harry, too, will continue to support the welfare of servicemen and women, conservation, sport, HIV, and Travaly that works to organize the travel and tourism industry for social good. Meghan Markle, on the other hand, will remain focused on women empowerment, gender equality, and education.
Despite the removal of their HRH titles, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will still hold of their Duke and Duchess of Sussex names and the Earl and Countess of Dumbarton and the Baron and Baroness Kilkeel titles. Harry will also stay as the sixth in line to the throne as Queen Elizabeth's grandson and the son of the heir to the throne, Prince Charles.
