Lionel Messi is dreaming of Barcelona becoming the European champions again, and the superstar is convinced the chance is higher for the Spanish giants to win the title with Neymar on their side. Messi said the Brazilian star wants a return to Camp Nou and the club should see that it happens.

The Argentine himself is looking forward to reliving the winning run of Barcelona with him, Neymar and Luis Suarez leading the Barca strike force that was instrumental in the Treble in 2015. The fun lasted for three seasons, and it can get a new start if Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona can agree on a transfer deal.

When Neymar left for Paris in August 2017, PSG paid €222 for the deal to push through. Most likely, Barcelona will spend the same amount of money or more to bring back the Brazil international.

If that is the case, it will be money well-spent as Messi remains a believer of the things that Neymar can do.

"On a sporting level Neymar is one of the best in the world and I'd love for him to come back," ESPN reported Messi as saying.

"Neymar has always been a top-level player and different to the rest. He is unpredictable, he takes players on and he scores lots of goals," added Messi, who is considered as one of the greatest footballers of all time.

Neymar tried to stage a comeback to Camp Nou last year, but PSG and Barcelona failed to agree on a deal. Messi said that during that time, it might not be the right moment for Neymar's return, but things are different now.

"He is very excited about returning, he has always shown that he regrets what happened. He did a lot to return and that could be the first step he took to try and come back," the Argentine explained.

And there are reports the relationship between Neymar and PSG is not exactly in stable ground. Recently, the Brazilian complained that his performance on the pitch was hampered by the decision of the club to force him out of active play.

In addition, ESPN reported that Neymar's recent birthday bash did not sit well with PSG sporting director Leonardo. The celebration was held at a time that the striker was supposed to be nursing a rib injury.

In any case, Messi also pointed to another possible signing for Barcelona in the event Neymar's return will not push through. The Argentine only has good words for compatriot Lautaro Martinez from Inter.

"He's spectacular. He's got a lot of impressive qualities. I can see he's going to become a great player, he's exploded on to the scene now and is showing what he's capable of," Messi said of the rising frontman, per Bleacher Report.
