The Blacklist season 7 is on its midseason break right now and it has been off-air for almost three months. Previously, fans speculated when the series will return, with some claiming it is set to come back in March 2020. Now, it turns out that these speculations were correct as the James Spader-Megan Boone-led series is returning to the small screen later next month.
Just recently, the official Twitter account of the series confirmed that The Blacklist season 7 is coming back in the third week of March on NBC. Many were delighted with the news, especially since the series has been on a hiatus for quite a long time. Fans are now excited to see what will happen and whether or not some of the mysteries will be solved.
One of the major questions this season is: Who is Raymond Reddington? This has been a mystery, but there were theories regarding the real identity of the character. CarterMatt noted that one of the possible theories is related to siblings. Red might be one of Katarina Rostova's siblings and that she's not aware they're related to each other.
But, some speculated Ilya Koslov might be Red's sibling. This is a very likely theory since they have been communicating as if they've known each other for long. Others also think the two were still somehow related; if not siblings. Another theory is that Alexander Kirk is Red's sibling, with some believing the latter whispered to Alexander about them being related.
Meanwhile, Katarina Rostova's arc is also a mystery in The Blacklist season 7. She is considered to be one of the Big Bads in Liz's life and could be the key to Liz learning more about the secrets from her past. Katarina, who was thought to be dead, is Liz's mother. It was revealed she's alive in the previous season and just living in Paris. So, her story may not be wrapped up immediately and may continue this season.
There are still 12 more remaining episodes of The Blacklist season 7, so some of the loose ends might be tied before it concludes. What's more is that the series has been renewed for season 8, which means fans would see more of Red, Liz, and others in the future. Some also suggest that the new season would have 22 episodes as well, just like the preceding installments.
The Blacklist season 7 returns on Friday, Mar. 20, on NBC.
