A lot of people have noticed by now Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's subtle dig to Queen Elizabeth II in their statement. The Sussexes' decision to step back as senior royals reportedly saddened Her Majesty. But before this controversy happened, royal insiders revealed the conflict between the Monarch and the Duke of Sussex already began over a year ago when he was about to get married.

A source told Vanity Fair that the Commonwealth leader didn't want to talk about the royal couple's so-called Megxit anymore. After they dropped their bombshell announcement in January, she found the turns of events "rather hurtful."

However, royal commentator Katie Nicholl revealed that a rift between Queen Elizabeth and Prince Harry was already happening for some time now. A few days after they announced their departure, she pointed out that their relationship has been strained since the preparations for his wedding with Meghan Markle began.

Allegedly, Queen Elizabeth was upset by some of Prince Harry's demands and the way he wanted some things to happen. He didn't want to use his grandmother's staff for the wedding, the couple also brought their own florist and cake makers, and he asked the Archbishop of Canterbury to marry them without consulting the Queen herself and the Dean of Windsor.

There were also reports that disagreements between the newly-wed couple and the members of the royal household started after their wedding in May 2018, Express noted. Meghan Markle was said to be difficult. She even demanded to wear a tiara with emeralds for the ceremony.

However, as the thing she wanted wasn't available at the time, Prince Harry reportedly insisted and told the staff that what his wife wanted, she would get. This led to Queen Elizabeth to get involved in the issue of how her grandson and his wife addressed the staff members.

Nicholl added that Queen Elizabeth was so upset that she called Prince Harry for a rare dressing down. An insider said that she was so dismayed of his attitude and saddened by how beasty he has become. Sadly, this resulted in a badly damaged relationship between them.

Some even questioned the statement that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released after Queen Elizabeth and senior officials decided to ban them from using the word royal in their branding. The two claimed that the Monarch has no jurisdiction over the term, thus they could continue using it if they wanted to, per Daily Mail. However, they decided not to.
