This Is Us season 4 episode 16 is arriving within a few weeks on NBC, with the title "New York, New York, New York." The series is nearing its season finale, but there are still a lot of questions that needed to be answered. For instance, Randall and Kevin seemed to be not on good terms, based on the flash-forward scenes. Now, it looks like the upcoming answer may offer some answers to that.
This Is Us season 4 episode 16 will probably revealed what happened to Randall and Kevin in the future, and why they weren't on talking terms. In episode 15, Kevin went back to Los Angeles and spent some time with his mother, Rebecca. Their bond will likely continue in the upcoming episode, however, this is probably the reason why the two brothers had an apparent feud.
In the promo of This Is Us season 4 episode 16, Kevin brought a surprised Rebecca to The Plaza Hotel. The two were having a good time, but Randall's voice can be heard on the clip, saying: "I've been taking care of mom for 20 years." Then, the promo shifts to Randall and Kevin who seemed to be arguing, with the latter saying he knows what's good for their mother.
It looks like the heated argument between the two didn't go in the right direction. Kevin's changed attitude probably shocked Randall as the expression is apparent on his face. In addition, the tagline in the promo is "a rivalry between sons," which hints that this moment is probably one of the reasons why the two brothers drifted apart.
Furthermore, the promo teased that the growing closeness of Kevin with Rebecca may bring trouble in the future. Randall has been Rebecca's favorite son, but it looks like he is losing his grip now due to pressure, anxiety, and therapy. Kevin, on the other hand, is determined to make their mother happy. Hence, there's a possibility that this moment has created a twisted consequence in the future.
As for what else is coming, the episode may also feature Kevin and Sophie's storyline as the latter is currently residing in Brooklyn. Also, we're going to meet Kevin's acting coach and may see some of his early days in this episode. Perhaps, we're going to see how he started as an actor, as well as his movie premiere in the present.
