In the next few months, details for Netflix's The Crown Season 4 are expected to emerge on various media platforms. With the filming now reportedly done and concluded, it is only a matter of time when the new installment arrives on the streaming platform.

While some of the specific details have remained concealed, there are already a few important notes that have been shared with the public. These things include the estimated release date, new characters, and the plot's timeline.

According to Harper's Bazaar, The Crown Season 4 started filming in August last year. Although the most recent installment just arrived on Netflix last December, it was noted that the show always films its succeeding plots and installments in advance.

It was also added that the filming just concluded this February. Even so, many reports claimed that the new season, which comprises ten episodes, will likely arrive in the latter months of 2020.

As for its cast members, the fourth season will feature the same set of actors as Season 3. However, this will be their last run in the show as the fifth season will reportedly feature new actors again considering that the timeframe of the plot will focus on the 90s era.

It was revealed, though, that The Crown Season 4 will add new faces to its cast. As announced, Emma Corrin and Gilliam Anderson will be in the new season since they will play the roles of Princess Diana and Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher.

Some photos have already leaked these past few weeks showing the arrival of the two characters. There is one photo, as well, that seemingly hinted that the young Prince William will also join the set of the new season.

There have been no confirmed details yet in terms of the young Prince's appearance. But, fans and followers of the series are now looking forward to witnessing the new installment.

As per Elle, the "time period" of The Crown Season 4 will likely fall between 1979 and 1990, and most likely to take its center on the 80s. Historically, these were the years when Margaret Thatcher became the United Kingdom's Prime Minister and the years when the public met Princess Diana.

Josh O'Connor, who plays the role of Prince Charles, reportedly revealed that the upcoming season will take its center plot on the Charles-Diana years. Accordingly, it is now expected that they will be featured the new season more than Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip's characters.
