There is little doubt that Wolverine is the one character that people are hoping will be introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe now that Disney has successfully acquired Fox. After all, this means that the X-Men can now be introduced in Marvel Studios' upcoming projects alongside the Avengers and more. So is it possible that the mutant will be one of the first Fox characters who will show up in the MCU? A recent report suggested that Marvel is planning to cast The Witcher star Henry Cavill as Wolverine in the upcoming sequel Captain Marvel 2.

People have long been hoping that Henry Cavill will eventually join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When there were reports that the Justice League star would no longer appear in the DC Extended Universe as Superman, fans reacted by fan-casting Cavill as several different Marvel characters including Captain Britain and Moon Knight. However, Cavill has since revealed that he is still intent on playing Superman in more Warner Bros. films. Nevertheless, people continue to hope that he will soon become one of the Marvel superheroes.

Interestingly, it looks like Henry Cavill has once again found himself in the middle of some major Marvel Cinematic Universe casting. A report suggested that the actor is now being considered to portray Wolverine in one of the upcoming MCU sequels. However, it's not just any Marvel flick. The report reveals that Cavill could play the iconic mutant in Captain Marvel 2 which will also star Brie Larson as Carol Danvers.

Not surprisingly, people are freaking out over the news. After all, this would mean that Henry Cavill will finally join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In addition to that, he could be taking over a role that was made legendary by Hugh Jackman, who played Wolverine in almost every X-Men film released by Fox. But is it possible that the casting news is too good to be true?

Sadly, it is still unclear whether Henry Cavill has been cast as Wolverine in Captain Marvel 2. The news has not yet been officially announced by Marvel Studios and the star of The Witcher has yet to comment on the casting. With that in mind, it's best to take this news with a grain of salt.

Henry Cavill is currently a busy man with several major projects to work on. He is currently filming for The Witcher Season 2 where he plays Geralt of Rivia. Once production has wrapped, Cavill is then expected to start working on Enola Holmes where he will portray Sherlock Holmes opposite Stranger Things' star Mille Bobby Brown.

The Witcher Season 2 is expected to air on Netflix in 2021. Captain Marvel 2 has not yet been given an official release date.
