Amongst all the countries all over the world, China is the worst-hit country. While this is already expected because the infection started in Wuhan, the COVID-19 has its devastating impact on the economy and the lives of the people in the country. Apple, which is one of the companies reliant to China and its production prowess, is now sending Apple Care Packages to its employees in the region.
Apple CareKit Packages
On the Chinese microblogging site Weibo, an account named Apple Express shared several pictures of the packages that contain cookies, coffee, and tea. Macrumors also reported that some Apple employees shared on the same site that they received care packages from Apple. Thanks to Business Insider, the post which was in Chinese is now translated to English.
Based on the translated post, it appears that Apple sent packages to its employees in Hubei, Wenzhou, and several other provinces in China. Interestingly, the Cupertino tech juggernaut did not only send infrared thermometers, facemask, and snacks but also iPads. According to the report, Apple sent the 10.2-inch iPad so people could pass the time or so their children could still learn things online despite the health crisis.
Apple Employee Assistance Program
Employees were reportedly profoundly moved by how much the company cared for them. There is also a letter shared on Weibo, which details about the Apple Employee Assistance Program. Apple is providing this program in collaboration with ComPsych.
This program aims to offer a 'wide range of assistance' to Apple employees and their families. The Cupertino company says that employees who would avail the program would go through a series of consultation and counseling services, specially tailored for them through this trying time.
The lethal coronavirus outbreaks\ forcibly shut down stores across the region, including physical stores of Apple and other US companies. Some manufacturing hubs were also temporarily suspended because of the COVID-19. In January, China closed Wuhan, the place where the coronavirus is believed to have originated.
Until now, industry observers consider the quarantine in China as the 'largest work from home experiment in history.' Apple CEO Tim Cook said in an interview with Fox Business that he is optimistic that China is handling the COVID-19 outbreak in the best way it could. He is also positive that the region could soon bounce back to its normal routine once the issue is resolved. Cook also underlined how Apple values its employees and how the company wants to prioritize their health and safety.
