Meghan Markle is reported to be going to the Met Gala in New York this year. The posh affair is a gathering of the biggest names in the entertainment and fashion industry in the U.S.

According to The Sun, the Duchess of Sussex was invited to the event along with British Vogue editor Edward Enninful. Apparently, the Enninful's team are piqued that they will be going with Meghan and a source said that the duchess is keen to "establish herself once more in Hollywood."

However, Hello! reported that the Duchess of Sussex will not attend the Met Gala. Sources told the magazine that, despite the alleged invite, Meghan will not be joining Enninful.

The Met Gala is taking place on Monday, May 4, in New York. However, Lainey Gossip pointed out that this is too close to the first birthday of Meghan and Prince Harry's son, Archie Harrison. The baby was born on May 6, which was last year's Met Gala.

The news outlet said that while there will be no conflict of schedule, as this year's affair is two days before Archie's birthday, it's still unlikely for Meghan and Prince Harry to be preoccupied before their only child's first bash. It's also unlikely that Meghan will don a "glamorous androgynous look" for the biggest summer party in Hollywood when she doesn't have plans to go.

In reality, the Sussex royals are going to be busy setting up their non-profit after they step back from their royal roles. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they will have their digital channels updated by Spring 2020.

Prince Harry and Meghan are working to become financially independent as they are no longer working royals. However, some royal observers believe that they will struggle without the backing of Buckingham Palace.

Patrick Jephson, who used to be Princess Diana's private secretary, said that Prince Harry and Meghan will not have it easy once they leave their royal duties. They won't have the massive royal logistics to sustain their work and philanthropy.

The former royal aide said that Princess Diana experienced the same challenges when she was stripped of her royal privileges after her divorce to Prince Charles. It cost too much money to maintain a chauffeur limousine service, charted plane and bodyguards, which all working royals enjoy.

Prince Harry and Meghan, however, will still receive financial support from Prince Charles for the next 12 months. Their new arrangement with the royal family will be reviewed after then.
