After a long break from showbiz, Jun Ji Hyun may finally be ready to return to the industry with the new drama Mount Jiri.
According to a report by Soompi, Jun Ji Hyun is seriously considering a part of the cast of Mount Jiri which is penned by Signal writer Kim Eun Hee."Jun Ji Hyun is positively considering the offer to star in writer Kim Eun Hee's new project 'Mount Jiri,'" her agency, Culture Depot announced.
Jun Ji Hyun may be in good hands with the project as Kim Eun Hee is responsible for top rating suspense dramas Sign, Ghost, Three Days, Signal and Netflix's zombie hit Kingdom. Jun Ji Hyun will also reportedly join the cast of the second season of Kingdom which will air on March 13 via Netflix. Her role remains undisclosed.
If the actress confirms her participation in Mount Jiri, the drama will begin filming in the second half of the year with a planned release sometime in 2020. Jun Ji Hyun last appeared in the successful drama The Legend of the Blue Sea opposite Lee Min Ho which aired from 2016-2017. She also appeared in the megahit My Love from the Star opposite Kim Soo Hyun from 2013-2014. She took a break from showbiz to focus on her family and gave birth to her second son in January 2018. Her first son was born in 2016.
Her first acting role following the fantasy drama will be for Kingdom 2 where she will star with Ju Ji Hoon, Bae Doona and Ryoo Seung Ryong.
Recently, the actress became the subject of online bashing after netizens shamed her for not donating to the government's efforts in battling the Coronavirus (COVID-19) that has affected thousands of Koreans in several areas, All Kpop reported.
This came amid celebrities pledging donations to provide support and funding for medical supplies for people who are in special care zones because of the virus.
Netizens criticized Jun Ji Hyun for not taking action amid the misfortune of ailing Koreans and compared her to other celebrities who readily supported the cause. She recently announced a donation of 1 billion won to the cause but netizens remained critical and accused her of only donating because she was pressured by her agency. However, some defended her and called out bashers for badmouthing Jun Ji Hyun when they were unable to donate even a small amount to the cause.
