Prince William and Kate Middleton just marked their first official trip to Ireland. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the State from March 3 until March 5.
The couple made a historic visit to Ireland after the demand for Irish unity. The victory of Sinn Fein, an Irish republican political party, at the Irish elections led to the announcement of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s sudden trip.
Although the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been to Northern Ireland twice, their trip to the Republic of Ireland was their first. They took part in a couple of engagement during their two-day visit.
And since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell announcement is still a hot topic, many were expecting that their withdrawal would have affected Prince William and Kate Middleton’s visit to Ireland. However, it appears that the couple was in good spirits and was enjoying their time.
In fact, when Prince William and Kate Middleton met with President Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina, the Duchess of Cambridge wasn’t bothered by Sabina’s comment at all. While shaking hands, the President’s wife told Kate, "Delighted to welcome you. You've had lots of exciting things happening in your family."
While Sabina’s comment was harmless, those who are aware of what’s going on in the Royal Family household would know that there has been turbulence for the past few months. But Kate Middleton took the comment very lightly and was never seen strained or worried at all.
What happened was actually quite the opposite. Instead of looking anxious, Kate Middleton was seen smiling and laughing alongside their hosts.
This was a completely different scenario back in January. Energy reader Alison Ward said that the Duchess of Cambridge's worries regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal exit was quite obvious when she greeted guests at the UK-Africa Investment Summit reception at the time.
“The strain of recent events is evident to see in some of last night’s pictures from the state reception,” she said. “Kate warmly greets officials and is clearly still very much in love with William but when she meets Sophie, Duchess of Wessex that’s when the strain shows.”
Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate Middleton are certainly two of the most popular and well-loved members of the royal family. According to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are doing their duties so well that they continue to bring honor to the royal family.
