Are you more than ready to welcome the second season of Netflix's Korean zombie drama Kingdom? Netflix has confirmed that the second season will drop on March 13 and here are all the things that you need to know about the next installment.
It's Not The Sun. The Crown Prince Lee Chang (Ju Ji Hoon) and the people of Sangju beefed up the city's defenses and prepared for the long night of zombie attacks that never came. It was revealed in the final episode that the zombies' weakness was actually not sunlight but rather, temperature. This meant that the more the climate dropped, the more chances there were for the infected to attack and the less time it took to prepare for the humans.
Final Teaser. The final teaser for the second season showed Crown Prince Lee Chang rallying his allies as he prepared to go back to the Palace to take back the throne. However, as he arrived in the throne room, the Queen has already installed herself in position and refused to relinquish power to the Crown Prince.
Moo Young's Son. In the previous season of Kingdom, it was revealed that the Queen was not really pregnant with an heir to the throne. Rather, she has gathered pregnant ladies in the Kingdom to await the birth of a male child. Moo Young's (Kim Sang Ho) wife was seen as one of the women being harbored by the queen and there is heavy speculation that his son will be claimed as the Queen's own and the next heir to the throne.
Not all Main Characters Will Survive. In what promises to be an intense battle, the teaser also hinted that some of the main characters from the previous season will fall. It also hinted that someone from the Palace will die in the epic showdown between the evil queen and the Crown Prince. Among the main characters who will participate in the rebellion are Kim Sung Kyu as Young Shin and Heo Jun Ho as the war hero Ahn Hyun. They are expected to fight the strong forces of the main antagonist jo Hak Joo (Ryoo Syeong Ryeong), the leader of the Haewon Cho Clan.
Finding a Cure. Nurse Seo Bi (Bae Doona) has risked her life countless times to discover a cure for the disease based on the notes of her master about a mysterious flower. It is expected that if she survives her cornered position from the end of the first season, she could concoct an antidote to the disease to save the people of Joseon.
Possibility of Kingdom Season 10. Writer Kim Eun Hee admitted that she was surprised about the global success of the first season of Kingdom. Depending on how well the second season does, she did not discount the possibility of expanding the scope of the series and extending it to ten seasons given that they can attract more investors to the project, Soompi reported.
New Cast members. It has been confirmed that Legend of the Blue Sea star Jun Ji Hyun will make her comeback with a role in Kingdom 2. While her role remains undisclosed, writer Kim Eun Hee promised that viewers will be surprised and pleased with how well she fit into the role. Rumors hint that Park Byung Eun and Kim Tae Hoon were also added to the cast.
