Amid the rumors that Real Madrid and Barcelona are working to bring him to Spain, it is believed that Mohamed Salah will not abandon Liverpool. The Egyptian star will realize that great football awaits him in Premier League than in La Liga.

This was the argument offered by Liverpool legend Steve McManaman. He said that it's clear Barcelona is on the decline because the Spanish giants' marquee player, Lionel Messi, is approaching 33 and is gradually showing signs of slowing down.

It's the same case for Real Madrid. The club was never the same since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, and no one stepped up to take his place. It seems easy that young stars looking for a long career will see that English football is now at a higher level than Spanish football.

Case in point, according to Mirror, was the Champions League final last season. Barca and Real failed to make the title showdown, and instead, Tottenham and Liverpool duked it out for the crown, which the latter won.

The same scenario played out in the Europa League. The finals saw the showdown between Arsenal and Chelsea with the Blues lifting the silverware in the end.

As things stand now, Premier League has become more prestigious than La Liga, and McManaman said Salah would see that for him to win trophies staying in Liverpool will be the key.

"I see his future at Liverpool to be honest ... The best teams in Europe now are in England, so I don't understand the premise of why you need to go to La Liga at the minute," the former Liverpool star was reported as saying.

McManaman said the core talents of Real are now in their 30s, and while Messi remains a phenomenal leader at Camp Nou, it will only be a few years, and he will call it quit. It is inevitable that La Liga will soon lose its luster and the spotlight will shift to England.

"We are starting to see the decline of the top Spanish sides before this transitional period. In my opinion, the future of superstar footballers belongs in England," McManaman predicted.

Salah remaining at Anfield will be a prudent move, according to Mohamed Elneny, who is the Liverpool star's teammate in Egypt.

"For me, he's currently playing for one of best the teams in the world. He's a superstar at Liverpool. If I were him, I'd stay at Liverpool," Team Talk reported Elneny as saying.

It might be that playing for Barcelona and Real Madrid will be a dream come true for any player but the Egyptian is convinced his compatriot is now settled where he is.

"He's very settled at his current club and this Liverpool team is up there with the best. I don't know what he thinks inside but I would definitely stay at Liverpool," Elneny offered.
