Following reports that Paul Pogba will soon resume training, Manchester United can start making use of a potent midfield lineup that consists of the Frenchman, the newly-acquired Bruno Fernandes, and Scott McTominay. The Red Devils will be unstoppable if the trio can be used by United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to full potential.

That's according to former Premier League star Tim Sherwood, who advised Solskjaer to work out a plan that will make Pogba stay. The World Cup winner is believed to be leaving Old Trafford in the summer, but Sherwood said it would be worth the trouble to keep the attacker.

"When he's back I believe someone of Paul Pogba's ilk will come back with a professionalism of playing for the biggest club in the world and want to prove ... that he's a top drawer player," the Mirror reported the pundit as saying.

Sherwood is convinced that Pogba will be buoyed on the recent entry of Fernandes. The Portuguese joined Solskjaer's side in the recent transfer window and has been impressive since. In six appearances so far, Fernandes has already netted three goals and is largely credited for boosting United's standing in the Premier League.

"He will have been massively encouraged by looking at Bruno Fernandes coming to the club, performing like he has," Sherwood predicted.

"Them two together with McTominay sitting in between them is an unstoppable midfield ... I think they would be magnificent together," said the former Tottenham manager.

If Solskjaer can figure out how to make the trio work, it would be a fearsome combination that rivals in the Premier League would hate to meet on the pitch, he added.

However, convincing Pogba to stay could prove the more difficult task for the Norwegian boss as the former Juventus is long-rumored to return to his former club. He is also believed on the radar of Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, and these giant clubs are likely working on a plan to make Pogba leave Old Trafford.

According to Metro, Pogba, who is not expected to return in weeks, will likely decide on his next destination by the end of the current term and sticking with the Red Devils will greatly depend on how the club will fare in the ongoing campaign.

The chance is high that the Frenchman will opt to remain if Solskjaer's side will qualify in the Champions League and the team's current standing indicated of a Top 4 finish by the season's end. The club is at No. 5 at the moment and is chasing Chelsea that recently won big against Liverpool.

Another alternative way to earn a UCL ticket for United next season is the Europa League, where the team is now part of the last 16.
