Princess Anne has an official visit to Canada on May 1 to 3 and there are speculations that she may be the very first member of the royal family to see Prince Harry and Meghan in their house abroad. Will the Duke and Duchess of Sussex meet with her during her official tour in their second home?
According to Hello!, the Princess Royal is embarking on her Canadian visit as Commodore-in-Chief of the Royal Canadian Navy. She's scheduled to undertake a series of engagements but will she have the time to visit her nephew and his wife, as well as their son, Archie?
Incidentally, Archie is going to turn a year old on May 6. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex might be planning something special for their son's first birthday.
Prince Harry and Meghan live in a rented mansion in Vancouver Island. It's the same house they have stayed since traveling to North America for the holidays last November.
The Sussex pair are officially resigning from their royal duties as of March 31. Come April, Prince Harry and Meghan will announce their new projects and ventures as private individuals and non-working members of the royal family.
Meanwhile, the nature of Princess Anne's relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan haven't been written much in the press. Princess Anne is particularly not media savvy. Prince Harry, however, is very close to his cousins, Princess Anne's children, Peter and Zara.
According to Daily Express, Princess Anne, apparently resents the popularity of her sisters-in-law, Princess Diana and Sarah, the Duchess of York. Early in their relationship as in-laws, the Princess Royal didn't like that her brother's wives got the media attention while her work in the royal family has been sidelined.
At that time Princess Anne's public service was being pitted against Princess Diana. In the end, however, Princess Anne is recognized as the most hardworking member of the royal family who take on engagements even without the media present.
Meanwhile, there were speculations that Princess Anne is going to take over one of Prince Harry's military post now that the Duke of Sussex has stepped back from his royal duties. However, Buckingham Palace announced in February that there will be no new military appointments or changes to Prince Harry's service and designations. It will be part of the review that the palace will undertake one year after its arrangement with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's new life.
