Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been known to play with the fans especially when it comes to making investments. The Flamboyant One has earned billions throughout his boxing career and has been known to throw away money at times. But when it comes to investments, he is picky and gets into detail. One future investment could be buying into a Premier League team.

Mayweather hinted before that he would be interested in buying a stake of Newcastle United FC. This was back in 2018 when the retired American boxer expressed interest in a possible takeover bid of the football club, the Sunday Daily Star reported. He did have curious plans, including the possibility of getting Cristiano Ronaldo onboard. Both are good friends and having the Portuguese football player there would make sense. The only problem is that these talks died down. That was until now.

During a Q&A over in Newcastle, Mayweather was thrown a question about purchasing the Newcastle United FC team anew. The 43-year-old did not come up with a straight answer and instead tried to make something out of it, TMZ Sports reported.

"In the U.S. we call it soccer, but the Newcastle football team is an unbelievable team," Floyd said ... "a hell of a team," Mayweather said. "If the people want me to buy the Newcastle team, let me know!"

Mayweather is no stranger to being thrown crazy questions. If that response is to be evaluated, it would be best not to raise expectations. The undefeated pug has been known to want to be a hit with the fans but living up to his promises is up for debate. But the thing here is that he never mentioned he would and may only consider it if the fans wanted it.

For now, Mayweather has other promises he needs to keep. That includes getting back in the ring with the name of Manny Pacquiao in the air. The Filipino boxer is aching for a rematch and the American promised that the eight-time division champion is on the list. To date, nothing has gone down and Pacquiao has already set his sights on other notable names still active in the boxing scene.

Outside boxing, a fantasy clash with mixed martial artists Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov have been suggested as well. Nurmagomedov says he is open to facing Mayweather for as long as it satisfies certain conditions. That includes Mayweather Jr. agreeing to a mixed martial arts fight as mentioned in a previous report.
