The BIGBANG's highly-anticipated 2020 comeback is not happening in April. This is after the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival decided to postpone the annual event in April due to the coronavirus outbreak in the U.S.

Earlier this year, BIGBANG's label, YG Entertainment, announced that the K-pop group is set to make their comeback at the Coachella stage in Indio, California on April 10 and 17. Many fans were thrilled by the announcement.

In fact, some fans of the group, called VIPs, started a countdown for the comeback with the hashtag #BigBangIsAlive through social media sites. The hashtag trended in 13 countries including the United States.

Then, the organizers of one of the biggest music and arts festivals in the world decided on Tuesday to delay Coachella to October 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the U.S. More than 22,000 people have also signed a Change.org petition calling for the event's cancellation.

Instead of a total cancellation, the organizers decided to move the event on October 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, and 18. Coachella 2020 was supposed to take place on the weekends of April 10 and 19 with headliners including Travis Scott, Frank Ocean, Calvin Harris, Lana Del Rey, and Rage Against The Machine.

Health authorities, however, declared that it was too dangerous for at least 250,000 fans and vendors to congregate in one area amidst the COVID-19 outbreak. As of writing, California, where Coachella is being held annually, has 167 cases of coronavirus and two deaths.

With this delay in Coachella, BIGBANG's 2020 comeback was also put on hold unless YG Entertainment decided to stage a comeback for the group prior to the October 2020 Coachella. The supposed BIGBANG comeback in Coachella would be their first official live performance since their Last Dance concert tour in 2017.

It would also be their first as four members and after G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, and Daesung finished their military service last year. Seungri will no longer join the group after he got involved in several scandals last year and eventually decided to leave the group and retire from the entertainment. Seungri also started his military service last week.

As for the four remaining members of BIGBANG, all have finished their military service last year. G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, and Daesung have also renewed their contract with YG Entertainment. The label, however, did not reveal how long the contract will be or how many albums the "Fantastic Baby" singers are expected to create within this period.
