So the spat that boils the blood between Draymond Green and Charles Barkley will not be seeing an end anytime soon. Shots have been fired, and insults exchanged, the latest of which came from the former NBA superstar and now league commentator. According to Barkley, Green is delusional if he believes he is a big star.
Green being a star is not hard to see. He is part of the franchise that is considered one of the popular NBA teams. He has personal and team honors to his name, and no one can dispute his contribution to the success of the Golden State Warriors organization.
NBA fans love and hate the outspoken Green, but his name is written in stone as far as the NBA is concerned, according to Fadeaway World.
"Green has been in the national spotlight as the heart and soul of the Warriors," the report said.
Brushing aside Green's career accomplishments, Barkley reminded him that he is far from superstar status.
"He's the least famous person in the boy band, and he thinks he's a star. And he's not. He's lucky to be in the boy band. He thinks all the girls are screaming for him. No, they're screaming for Justin Timberlake," the former league MVP was reported as saying.
Most certainly, the latest outburst from Barkley was in reaction to the comments made by Green recently. The Warriors star was questioning Barkley's credentials and suggested he can do a better job, according to Bleacher Report.
"If he keeps talking, I'll take it soon ... Sooner than he thinks. Still, he probably should be quiet. He also can't talk basketball with me, either. Not smart enough, not qualified-no rings can't sit at this table," Green was reported as saying.
On Green's part, it sure hurts to be likened to virtual stand-ins on a group that benefitted from the shining moments of the real stars. It was like saying that Green indeed came home with honors, but those cannot be credited solely to him. In part, he got them because of guys like Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
On the other hand, Barkley getting poked again of his shortcomings amounted to outright ridicule of his achievements, which include an MVP trophy that likely Green will not be getting and 12 All-Star appearances that again is something that will be out of reach for Green.
Barkley is also a Hall of Famer, but there is one thing he lacks that Green boasts of three pieces - an NBA ring.
In any case, the Warriors defensive specialist has yet to respond on the latest from Barkley but to be sure he will fire off a volley when he does.
