Jack Grealish joining up with Manchester United for the next season campaign appears to be a done deal as the Red Devils have been reported willing to pay £70 million for the Aston Villa star. However, it has to be the last price for United and any higher the club will not hesitate to walk away.

That was the latest update on the developing deal between United and Villa, suggesting that the former will refuse any attempt from the seller to jack up the asking price of Grealish. The likelihood of the midfielder becoming pricier emerged as Manchester City will reportedly join the race to land the prized attacker.

According to Metro, even in the face of competition from rivals, United has set a ceiling on the price to pay for Grealish. The bid will stop at £70 million and nothing more as the report suggested the mission to bring the winger to Old Trafford will not make him the most expensive transfer deal for the club.

It would seem that while United will tend to flip-flop on the deal, City boss Pep Guardiola is all set to secure Grealish's signature. As the report said, the Spanish boss has been monitoring the 24-year-old for some time now and he is certainly suitable for the plan to beef up the City midfield for next season.

In any case, if United blinks on the race to sign up Grealish, it would be the club's loss and potentially Guardiola will be gaining a big boost for the upcoming season.

Earlier, the Mirror reported that Grealish heading to United next seems written in stone. Following the loss to City in the Carabao Cup final, it has become more apparent that Dean Smith's side will be relegated to the Championship.

Should that happen, the Villa boss knows holding on to a player with the caliber of Grealish will be next to impossible although the midfielder still has two years to go with Aston.

"Staying in this league is probably one of the biggest things that will help us to keep Jack Grealish ... He wants to play at the highest level and win trophies," Smith was reported as saying.

Grealish donning the Red Devils jersey seems the best option available for him. He will be suiting up with a club that currently is on a 10-win streak with Bruno Fernandes leading the incredible surge.

There are reports too that Paul Pogba is now willing to stay for the long-term with United, which should make the club more attractive to Grealish. The latter will be appearing with a solid strike force that will boast of Pogba, Fernandes, and McTominay.
