The price tag attached to the signing of young German sensation Kai Havertz proved too high for Real Madrid as reports said the Los Blancos are no longer interested to see the rising midfielder play for Bernabeu's side. Supposedly, the asking price for Havertz is north of £80 million so Real will pass off.
For Bayer Leverkusen to start talking with interested clubs, the offer has to be on the figures mentioned and Real has decided not to bid anymore on the youngster. The attacker has been a target by Jurgen Klopp and it appears now that his side is willing to spend big.
"The La Liga giants have already decided to give up on Havertz because he seems destined to join Liverpool ... Real Madrid cannot compete with the kind of money the Premier League leaders are preparing to offer," the Express reported.
Also, the Spanish giants are resigned to the fact that it is Klopp that directly recruits the promising German, which is a plus for the Anfield side.
The German manager is a big name back home and young players would readily grab the chance to play under the Liverpool boss, which is something that Real is aware would be hard to compete against.
However, bringing Havertz to Anfield is far from a sure thing for the Reds and because of two things, according to Liverpool Echo. One is that big clubs with deep pockets are also interested in the youngster, who last season netted a total of 20 goals for Leverkusen.
It has been widely reported too that Havertz has made known that in the event of an exit from his current team, his preferred destination is within Germany the club of his choice is Bayern Munich, which for sure can pay up the asking price set by Leverkusen.
The good news, however, is that Liverpool can match the financial muscle of the leading Bundesliga club, indicating that if Klopp is serious on his task of bringing Havertz to the Premier League then Liverpool can easily match any bid on the young striker.
In a recent interview, Havertz admitted that becoming part of Bayern Munich would be a dream come true for him but nothing yet is definite on his plans.
He stressed: "At some point, the next step must come for me ... But I'm not going to worry about when exactly that will happen."
The striker said he feels confident playing for the big clubs like Bayern but insisted he can do the same for other organizations.
"I really don't know yet whether FC Bayern is the next and right step for me. I also don't know whether foreign countries would not be more suitable for me," Havertz said.
