It’s no secret that Meghan Markle doesn’t have a good relationship with her dad. But since they are related by blood, many are still hoping that the father-daughter duo will reconcile soon.
However, a royal expert said that Meghan Markle and her father fixing their relationship is far from happening. Leslie Carroll said that Thomas Markle broke his daughter’s trust after he leaked private letters to the media.
“Sadly, Thomas Markle made his bed when he violated his daughter’s privacy by releasing Meghan’s correspondence to the press and continuing to savagely badmouth her in public for the sake of clickbait and some press of his own,” she said. “Prior to her marriage into the royal family, his posing for paparazzi in an effort to appear erudite was clearly a misfire. He has been speaking with forked tongue ever since, publicly trashing his daughter with one side of his mouth, while claiming to love her and wish to reconcile with the other.“
Meghan Markle previously said that she attended Northwestern University on a scholarship. But then her credibility was tested when Thomas Markle claimed that he paid for her private school education, college fees, and student loans. His defense team then accused the Duchess of Sussex for not being honest by not mentioning that her father provided her support through her childhood and youth.
"Mr. Markle had supported the claimant throughout her childhood and youth,” the document stated. ”He had paid her private school fees. He had paid all her college tuition and after she left Northwestern University he continued to pay off her student loans even after she had landed a well-paid role in suits… She did send him financial gifts occasionally, although he was still repaying her student loans, as stated above."
Meanwhile, Thomas Markle previously shared his two cents regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Royal exit. He said that he’s embarrassed that his daughter and Prince William’s brother ditched their roles as senior royals. As if that’s not enough, he said that the former actress “cheapened” the royal family.
“When they got married they took on an obligation, and the obligation is to be part of the Royals and to represent the Royals,” Thomas Markle said. “And it would be foolish for them not to. This is one of the greatest long-living institutions ever. They are destroying it, they are cheapening it, making it shabby. They shouldn’t be doing this."
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle previously announced that they would be stepping down as senior royals to focus on their family and charities. It was then confirmed that the Duke and Duchess will no longer formally represent Queen Elizabeth at all.
