Former MONSTA X member Wonho has been cleared of all drug charges, according to his former agency Starship Entertainment. MONBEBEs now want him back with his members.
In a statement, Starship Entertainment announced the findings of the police investigation on allegations that Wonho was involved in the use of marijuana in 2013 amid accusations by Jung Da Eun and former idol trainee Han Seo Hee which caused a frenzy among the fandom.
According to Starship Entertainment, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's narcotics team concluded their investigation into Wonho's illegal use of drugs last March 10 and cleared the former MONSTA X member of all the charges. The label further explained that when the police decided to launch an investigation against Wonho in October last year, the artist willingly cooperated.
"During this process, Wonho was fully cooperative in all stages of the investigation, including the scientific examinations carried out by the investigative body. The team carried out a broad investigation over the past five months but did not find any suspicious activity, and the case surrounding Wonho was closed on March 10," Starship announced.
At the time the scandal broke out, Wonho and Starship Entertainment mutually agreed on the termination of his exclusive contract with the agency as well as his departure from MONSTA X to protect the other members from undeserved criticism.
Starship explained that the decision was made to minimize media coverage and external exposure on Wonho so that he can go through the process as peacefully as possible. The agency said that during this time, they supported Wonho by appointing legal representation so that he will not be charged unjustly.
The label said that they will continue to do so in the future as Wonho embarks on the path he chooses. They also thanked fans for their unwavering support for Wonho and MONSTA X during the challenging phase.
It can be recalled that after the scandal broke out, fans came to the Starship Entertainment Building en masse to show support for Wonho. There was also an online petition to keep Wonho in the group.
The same fans are now clamoring for Wonho's return to MONSTA X after he was vindicated from the investigation.
MONBEBEs once again showed their collective strength by trending the hashtag #WonhoIsAlmostHome and voiced out their wish for him to return to MONSTA X. With no bad blood between the agency and Wonho, fans believe it is possible for him to re-sign another contract with the label, SCMP reported.
