It is known that Real Madrid will make use of the summer transfer window to lure Senegal's Sadio Mane away from Anfield, and reports said the transfer offer from the Bernabeu side would amount to no less than £140 million. It is a tempting offer that Liverpool should consider seriously.
It will be good business for the leading Premier League club, according to former West Ham keeper Shaka Hislop. He suggested Jurgen Klopp's side has been anticipating that Mane, who again displayed an excellent showing in the season, will be attracting attention from the European giants.
Hislop said Liverpool appeared to be preparing that one day the prolific striker will depart, hence the persistent report to bring in Timo Werner.
"I think he's an incredible footballer and you understand why clubs like Real Madrid are interested and you understand why Liverpool continue to be linked with Timo Werner, given all of that," Team Talk reported Hislop as saying.
"I think you take [£140 million] ... And listen, if you pay £140m for Sadio Mane, I think it's good business," the pundit added.
Hislop also touched on the reports that Mane and fellow Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah are not friendly off the pitch, which according to him, is a non-issue at all so long they work great when deployed.
"Strikers not seeing eye to eye, not being friendly off the pitch, is nothing new ... As long as they continue to produce on the park, that's all that should matter to Jurgen Klopp and to Liverpool and they continue to do that," said Hislop.
The Mirror said Real boss Zinedine Zidane has been plotting a long time to snatch Mane away from England and bring the Senegalese to Spain. The Frenchman has an eye on the forward since Liverpool became the European champions last season, and Mane continues to impress.
In the current campaign, the 27-year-old has already scored and likely on the way to be considered for the golden boot like in the last season. Mane still has three years of commitment with his club, but Zidane seemed convinced Liverpool would agree on a deal if the price is right.
And Rio Ferdinand can only agree that the Real manager is right in his admiration of the Liverpool striker.
"Mane's been phenomenal. He's the guy that normally scores first," said the former Manchester United defender.
Ferdinand said he would find it hard to play against the Liverpool star because "he's unpredictable, he's sharp, he's quick, he's direct, clinical."
"He's the one I would least like to play against ... there's just something different about him for me that I really, really love," said the Red Devils legend.
