G-Dragon has been active in social media since he got discharged from the military in October 2019. However, his latest post on Instagram sparked controversy and concern to his fans because one of the photos is allegedly drug-influenced imagery.
The BIGBANG member has shared a slideshow of photos recently. One of the pictures showed a mouth and a tongue sticking out and a smiley emoji on it. The photo is pixelated and some believe that the smiley emoji obscure a substance on the tongue.
G-Dragon came under fire for this photo which some alleged was drug-influenced imagery. It is worthy to note that this is not the first time that the rapper/songwriter was called out because of images like this. In 2014, he was slammed for posting a picture of the word "Molly" in a heart shape with white powder.
His new post also brought back the memories about his drug usage allegation. In 2011, the "That XX" singer was formally investigated over marijuana use. The police ultimately dropped prosecution as the amount of the illegal drugs in his system was minimal and found to be non-habitual.
Netizens shared mixed reactions about G-Dragon's new post on IG. His fans defended the singer, saying some are just overreacting on GD's pictures.
Others said the smiley face simply in reference to pop culture. Another added it was done to seek attention as the BIGBANG leader doesn't need attention because he remains the "most relevant and trend-setting person" in the K-pop industry.
Others, however, have different opinions. One said it is a drug-related image and what it represents is pretty clear.
"LSD is illegal in Korea. Posting images like this can be seen as promoting or romanticizing drug use," another wrote.
Others, on the other hand, also took notice of the other photos in the slideshow. Many were more concerned about the black pin with the words "Kill Yourself" written on it than the tongue and emoji photo. Many said it is a direct message about harming oneself.
"LSD is self-harming (kinda of) but they don't care about the traumatizing and suicidal words, they just care about dragging GD for drugs. That speaks a lot," another wrote.
Meanwhile, G-Dragon and his fellow BIGBANG members T.O.P, Taeyang, and Daesung recently signed a new contract with YG Entertainment. The "Fantastic Baby" hitmakers were originally slated to make their comeback at the 2020 Coachella Festival next month. The event, however, has already been canceled due to a coronavirus outbreak in the U.S.
