Since last year, the gaming industry heard rumors and claims that Sony is going to release the more powerful PS5 Pro. Later, a Sony executive confirmed this, but his statement was vague and only revealed the release pattern of the company for its mid-release. Last month, speculations about the PS5 Pro releasing alongside the standard PlayStation 5 started to make rounds online, but a report doubts it is happening.

However, it appears that Techradar is not convinced that the PS5 Pro and the PS5 would be released at the same time. According to the site, hardware upgrades like this one are launched in the middle of the "console generation as a way of giving the console a bit of a refresh - and offering players a more premium option to upgrade to." It also cites the release pattern of the PS4 and PS4 Pro, which happened with three years interval.

The site also predicts that if the Japanese gaming giant releases the PS5 Pro alongside the PS5, it might retail at a high price. This could apparently split console gamers into two teams; those who prefer the more affordable base console and those who would rather enjoy the extra added features of the more expensive Pro model. On the part of the game makers, they would develop games that would fit the specs and requirements of the PS5 Pro, which according to the site, could create disparities between the Pro and the Base PS5 console gamers.

Based on its release habit, Sony introduces the mid-cycle refresh model to prepare console gamers to transition from the current generation to the next generation gaming console. Releasing both models would defeat this purpose. If this happens, there is a chance that Sony might develop another console for its mid-cycle console refresh.

The site also points out that over the years, Sony has always followed a simple formula for its gaming console's release. Gamers usually get the standard console, the slim version, and the pro model. This is a proven and successful system, so it would be a big risk for the Japanese gaming giant to make a change this year. The issue about the release of the PS5 Pro alongside the PS5 first came up when several leaks surfaced online claiming that Microsoft is going to release the standard Xbox Series X and the more powerful model of the next generation gaming console.

It is worth noting that at the time of this publication, Sony has not officially confirmed if it is planning to release the PS5 Pro this year. Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan only confirmed that the company's next-generation gaming console is coming sometime in the holiday of 2020.
