The iPhone 12 is rumored to feature the biggest redesign of Apple in years. The heavily rumored device is reportedly set to arrive sometime in September of this year. We already know that the iPhone 12 would have a 5G model and sport the latest chipset, but it seems like there are lots of things that we don't know yet about the next-generation flagship smartphone from the Cupertino tech giant, and it includes its revolutionary camera configuration.

A new report claims that the camera configuration of the iPhone 11 Pro is getting an update this year too. Earlier, reports claimed that the iPhone 12 would feature a four-camera rear configuration, which could threaten the camera features of the recently released Samsung Galaxy S20+. A new report reveals that the flagship smartphone from Apple would boast a built-in depth-sensing 3D camera.

As per Fast Company, reliable sources told them that the iPhone 12 would feature a rear-facing 3D Time of Flight sensor. This particular sensor improves the quality of the image while eliminates the usual "artificial blur." Sources of the site claim that the information comes directly from Apple engineers who have been working with the said rear-facing camera.

iPhones already feature TrueDepth sensors on their selfie or front-facing camera. It enables the FaceID to be enhanced security and efficiency. However, if the recent claim is accurate, this would be the first time in the history of smartphones that a rear-facing camera would be equipped with TrueDepth sensors.

Apple could outdo its rivals by using depth-sensing technology to improve the way it offers reality capabilities. Earlier reports claimed that the Cupertino tech giant is creating a new app for the upcoming iOS 14 called Gobi, which utilizes Augmented Reality technology. Through this, games like "Pokemon GO," "Clandestine: Anomaly," "Temple Treasure Hunt," "Invizimals: The Resistance," and more would become more immersive user experience.

Apparently, Apple is preparing for depth perfection, and improvement of its next-generation Augmented Reality (AR) capabilities. It could also be the Cupertino tech juggernaut's exciting advantage over Samsung. But, these details are not yet official, so we suggest taking this information with a good measure of salt.

Meanwhile, Apple is anticipated to hold an event, possibly online, to launch the entry-level iPhone SE 2 this month. However, several industry insiders and analysts think that its release might be delayed due to the global pandemic. The iPhone SE 2 is rumored to feature a design similar to that of the iPhone 8.
