Folks who were looking forward to seeing the new AirPods from Apple will have to wait. Like the rest of the world, the Cupertino company is left with no choice but to steer clear of the mess that the coronavirus pandemic is causing. But the good news is that it appears they new AirPods are ready and raring to share the consumer market what improvements they bring.

According to DigiTimes, Apple is more concerned about the growing COVID-19 problem which will undoubtedly affect their sales numbers and demand. It is the same dilemma of practically all companies in the world right now with distribution channels and Apple stores forced to shut down for the safety of customers and employees. With most forced to stay at home, current AirPod owners will have to make do with their current pairs or some other earphones to enjoy for their private listening pleasure.

Considering that some were able to get their AirPods last October, it will be interesting what improvement was made in a short period. Among the things that the last batch of AirPods already came out with include active noise-cancellation, improved sound quality and water/sweat resistance per Mac Rumors. They also sported a new in-ear design for more comfortable use. The AirPods Pro retailed for $249, while the regular ones that came with a wireless charging case cost $199.

With so many improvements already, most are now left wondering what new features these next-generation AirPods will bring. So far, there were suggestions of a new entry-level AirPod Pros coming out, and that production will commence by the second quarter of 2020. These could very well be the third generation regular AirPods only that there would be some slight modifications. That includes possibly coming out without active noise cancellation but still sporting the same design and sound quality.

For now, that is the most to expect from the new AirPods from Apple with more information, hopefully coming out soon. The release of these new earphones is likely to be delayed, albeit the same with the date of availability. There is no word on the stock the Cupertino company has right now, with production currently on hold. It is a reality that everyone needs to deal with as doctors and scientists scamper to find cures and solutions to address the COVID-19 pandemic. Until a positive development crops up, it would be best to keep track of updates on the new AirPods via credible sources for now.
