The widespread of coronavirus is affecting a lot of people all over the world, including the royal family. There are fears that the outbreak may continue for months and may affect the upcoming wedding of Princess Beatrice. Although Buckingham Palace has yet to announce the Princess of York's next move, there are rumors that his grandfather, Prince Philip, may not make it to the event due to the risk of catching the virus.
Since the Duke of Edinburgh announced his retirement in 2017, he has been living a rather secluded life. However, a lot of people showed concern for his health after he was hospitalized last December due to a pre-existing condition.
With his alleged poor health and advancing age, Prince Philip is at risk of coronavirus, which is said to be easily caught by people who are 70 years old and above. There are rumors Queen Elizabeth II's husband was moved to Windsor to keep him safe and isolated.
Royal author Phil Dampier suggested that the prince should remain isolated, which might result in his absence on Prince Beatrice's wedding in May. "If the coronavirus reaches Italian proportions in the U.K. I seriously doubt the Duke will run the risk of traveling to London for Beatrice's wedding," he told Access, via Express. "He has not been coming into contact with many people in recent weeks."
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's eldest daughter is set to marry Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi at the Chapel Royal in St James's Palace, Central London. The much-awaited royal wedding will take place in May. However, the new security measures that the Government recently announced might affect the important event.
The new measure advised people who are over 70 years old to stay at home and avoid social interactions and unnecessary travels. This rule affects not only Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth but also Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who are 71 and 72 years old, respectively.
Royal expert Angela Mollard suggested that Her Majesty should stop all her public outings to avoid the risk and possible transmission of coronavirus to Prince Philip. Business Times recently reported that the Queen was also brought to Windsor over the weekend due to the outbreak. If the situation gets worse, there are reports that they will be evacuated to Sandringham.
Mollard added that Buckingham Palace should limit Queen Elizabeth's public outings to protect her and Prince Philip's health. At their age, there are very vulnerable to any diseases, especially coronavirus.
