Prodigal Son episode 17 is coming next week on Fox, with the title "Stranger Beside You." There are a lot of exciting things within with episode and it will likely answer one of the major mysteries this season: who is the girl in the box? It seems like the next episode will explore what really happened and will uncover the truth behind all of it.
Viewers should be prepared in the upcoming Prodigal Son episode 17 as it will possibly deliver some shocking twists and turns. In the episode, Malcolm was able to find his way back to Eve. However, he can't shake his paranoia and thinks there's more to her than meets the eye. Ainsley helps him to do some investigation to ease his feeling, and she discovered a secret that Eve has been keeping.
There is a huge possibility that Eve's secret is somehow related to the mysterious girl in the box. In the previous episode, titled "The Job," Malcolm revealed to Eve he's been dreaming of his father's victim; the girl in the box. Eve asked why he calls the girl like that, and he answered because he found her in the trunk his father kept in the basement of their house.
Malcolm also explained the girl comes to him in visions and he tried to save her. He also feels like he's responsible for what happened, especially since she reminds him of that when he's having nightmares. At the end of the episode, Eve went to the Whitlys' house and she offered her help and told Jessica she could assist with her search for the girl.
Eve immediately went down to the basement as soon as she was alone. She pulled out the trunk and then started to cry. Even then stood up, took off her shoes, and climbed in. Thus, this week's episode may explore what's her relationship to that or if ever she's indeed related. Based on her reaction, it's apparent she somehow knew the girl in the box.
As for what else we can expect in Prodigal Son episode 17, the NYPD investigates the case of a famous mommy blogger. Her husband was mysteriously stabbed just days after their baby was born. This is another mystery that needs to be solved in this episode. Meanwhile, CarterMatt noted that the order of this season may be cut down because of COVID-19 concerns.
