Two young strikers are on the crosshair of Real Madrid as the Spanish giants are rumored to recruit the prolific goalscorers from Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund. French superstar Kylian Mbappe is a headliner for the Parisians while Erling Haaland is making waves at Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.
The youngsters recently clashed when PSG eliminated Dortmund from the Champions League. In the aftermath of the match, PSG players famously trolled Haaland by mimicking his manner of celebration - doing a meditation pose - when scoring a goal.
The PSG roster, including Mbappe, copied the Haaland victory celebration in a group picture, which many interpreted as a form of mocking the young Norwegian.
It remains unknown if the 19-year-old Dortmund ace took the swipe personally but it could be that he will soon play alongside the young World Cup winner. The Sun reported that the Los Blancos are willing to move heaven and earth to snatch the two prize talents,
"Madrid chief Florentino Perez is desperate to strengthen Zinedine Zidane's attacking options for the next campaign," the report said, adding Perez is keen to make a move on both players in time for the summer transfer window.
How exactly Real will lure Haaland out of Bundesliga is largely a mystery as the striker has only recently joined up with Dortmund but there are suggestions Camp Nou is ready to spend big. He hit the headlines in late 2019 when reports emerged that he is a transfer target by Manchester United.
Haaland, however, shocked the football world when he elected to sign up with Dortmund instead of jumping to Premier League, and for a relatively bargain price of £18 million.
As for Mbappe, who certainly has caught the attention of European elite clubs with his 23 goals so far in the current campaign, getting him to Zidane's side could prove difficult. Per the same report, PSG has already stated that there is no plan to let go of the 21-year-old attacker.
Interested teams can discuss business on Neymar but not on Mbappe, the report said.
It might be that tensions flared during the PSG-Dortmund UCL showdown but it appeared teaming up with Mbappe is not an issue for Haaland. The Norwegian is all praises on the French superstar, according to Bleacher Report.
The Dortmund star said: "Mbappe is a fantastic player. It was the first time I played against him in the first leg. He has so much talent, and even more. He is an extraordinary player."
"Everything he did at his age and when you look at his record, it's completely crazy. He's a great player," added Haaland.
