Princess Beatrice planned for a low-key wedding to her fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. However, due to recent events brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, the York royal could be making major changes to her wedding guest list and trim this down to just two people.

According to Daily Mail, the Church of England issued a new directive in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. however, those who still want to proceed with their wedding during this critical period are asked to limit the number of people inside churches to just five individuals.

The bride and groom, as well as the priest, are counted in those numbers. Thus, the wedding must only have two guests or two witnesses

Daily Mail also said that Princess Beatrice still plans to proceed with her wedding to Edo on May 29. The couple booked the Chapel Royal in St. James's Palace, which can accommodate less than 150 people.

A spokesperson for Princess Beatrice and Edo said they are going to review their wedding arrangements. Apparently, the betrothed are looking into having a small private wedding elsewhere with their family and friends.

The wedding ceremony changes comes as Buckingham Palace announced all planned garden events in the coming months will be canceled. Queen Elizabeth provided her garden to Princess Beatrice and Edo so they could use it for the wedding reception.

But since the royal family is following the government's directives in preventing the spread of COVID-19, the Queen decided there will be no more events in her official residence in the foreseeable future.

Queen Elizabeth also distanced herself from Buckingham Palace by moving to Windsor Castle, where there are fewer staff and visitors. The Queen and her husband Prince Philip will be staying in their country home beyond the Easter season.

The spokesperson for Princess Beatrice and Edo said that they are excited for their big wedding day. However, they are also very aware of the need to take precautions when the coronavirus presents many risks, especially to the elderly members of the royal family.

In line with this potential changes, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip might not be able to attend the wedding. Prince Charles and Camilla could also skip the affair since the over 70s are advised to observe social distancing.

Prince Harry and Meghan could also miss the royal wedding as they might not be keen on flying from Canada with many countries imposting lockdowns and quarantine. At the same time, Edo has family members in Italy who will be flying to London for the big day and they are likely not going to be able to get on flights if the pace of the virus is still progressing. Italy also has one of the highest numbers of infection to date.
