There is no stopping the legal drama between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard as the Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald star is getting more support from his friends. Several celebrities have already stood up for Depp in the past including ex-girlfriend Winona Ryder. The latest celebrity to defend Depp in his ongoing legal battle is none other than his Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides co-star Penelope Cruz. The Spanish actress penned a lengthy statement defending Depp and backing up his defamation lawsuit against Heard.
The document penned by Penelope Cruz was reportedly presented as part of Johnny Depp's defense in the lawsuit he filed against ex-wife Amber Heard. In the statement obtained by Fox News, the Vanilla Sky actress revealed that she met Depp when she was only 19 years old and that they have been friends ever since. Cruz even stated that the Alice Through The Looking Glass star was one of the first Hollywood actors that she wanted to work with after moving out of Spain. In addition to that, Cruz stated that she considered Depp "a great friend."
Interestingly, Penelope Cruz also pointed out that Johnny Depp was very supportive of her while they were working on On Stranger Tides as she was pregnant at the time. "During six months of my first pregnancy, I spent every single day with him while we shot Pirates of the Caribbean. My husband and I will never forget the sweetness, protection and kindness he treated me with during every single step of that process," she wrote.
Penelope Cruz has worked on three movies with Johnny Depp starting with Blow, which was followed by Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. The third film they worked on was Murder on the Orient Express with Michelle Pfeiffer, Daisy Ridley, Judi Dench, and Kenneth Branagh.
The statement from Penelope Cruz is fairly similar to the declaration made by Winona Ryder in defense of Johnny Depp. The Stranger Things star had previously stated that the allegations against Depp were "impossible to believe" since he is not a violent person.
"I do not want to call anyone a liar but from my experience of Johnny, it is impossible to believe that such horrific allegations are true," Ryder wrote. "I find it extremely upsetting knowing him as I do,"
The declarations from Penelope Cruz and Winona Ryder could prove to be important in both of Johnny Depp's legal cases against Amber Heard.
