The COVID-19 pandemic has good and bad effects on the world. But, it also called for people to look out for each other. Tech giant Apple has been very busy in its COVID-19 initiative, and the latest includes offering free eBooks and audiobooks to consumers.

 Apple Books

Earlier, Apple Books sent a push notification offering free audio and eBooks to users. The free offer is available only for a limited time, and it looks like it is only for users located in the US at the moment. When users tap on the push notification, they are redirected to the Free Books page of the Apple Books Store.

On that page, users could check on the extensive list of free books and novels of varying genres. They can also browse on a full list of audiobooks. Moreover, there is an option where they could choose a new book on the First in a Series Free tab of the Apple Books.

The Apple app comes with special sections for special offers and To Free Chart for books available on the service without any charge. There are also several classic titles like those made by Shakespeare, Lewis Caroll, and Jane Austen. For audiobooks, accessible selections include "Lock and Key," "Winnie the Pooh," and "Rise of the Dragons."

In reality, some of the sections have been there for some time already. However, the recent promotion of the Apple Books is most likely intended for users stuck in their houses because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since Feb., the government has been calling on people to stay on their homes to prevent the contraction and spread of the disease.

This setup caught people off guard and made them look for more sources of entertainment at home through the use of the Internet. The Apple Books offer seems to be available for a limited time only. It means those who are interested should take advantage of the free eBooks and audiobooks as soon as they can.

Another Option

If you have finished reading all the free eBooks and audiobooks at the Apple Books, you can also check on various apps online. For instance, Libby offers more reading materials and enables users to borrow audiobooks and eBooks from their local libraries. Users are required to have a library card, which is also free.

The government and the WHO's call to stay home is a way to flatten the curve and to prevent the spread of the virus. In the absence of vaccines, this is the most effective way to fight and kill the COVID-19 virus.
