Manchester United could be all set to let go of Paul Pogba if the Frenchman will indeed head to a new team in the summer. The plan by United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is to capitalize on the market value of Pogba and use the cash to convince Atletico Madrid to permit the transfer of Saul Niguez to Old Trafford.

Atletico's asking price for the Spanish midfielder has been fixed at £135 million, which the Red Devils are looking fund from the sale of Pogba. Reports said Real Madrid could be the next team to get the services of the World Cup winner next but Juventus is also in top consideration.

The Daily Star said a deal on the 25-year-old Atletico star could be finalized as Solskjaer is said to have obtained the full backing by the United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

When the sale of Pogba would have been completed, "Woodward is willing to use the cash to help fund a move for Niguez that would make him the most expensive signing in their history," said the report.

It would seem that United is convinced that Niguez will be an instant hit and should fit well with the ongoing rebuild that Solskjaer is implementing. Scout reports on the Atletico ace indicated that he is now regarded as "one of the most complete midfielders," in the game.

Niguez is among the targets that the United boss has been wanting to bring in an effort to beef up the English club's scoring capabilities. Also on the scope of the Norwegian are Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho, both teenage sensations that Solskjaer hopes would see their future flourishing at Old Trafford.

Before setting sight on Niguez, United had hoped to secure the signature of Ajax star Donny Van De Beek but the side of Solskjaer decided against bidding on the 22-year-old. Reports said the Dutchman is more inclined to link up with Real Madrid than play in England.

In signing up Niguez, Metro said United will be looking forward to an exciting team-up with the recent acquisitions in the midfield section. In January, the Red Devils welcomed the arrival of Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo, which ignited the club's 11-game winning run.

But it was Fernandes who appear to fire up the club's hopes of sustained performance improvements. The Portuguese is now seen as a prized asset and it is believed that Solskjaer's hiring plans are geared somewhat on complementing his playing skills.

The United boss is said to be excited by the prospect of pairing Niguez with Fernandes in the hopes of making United a fearsome force in football.
