South Korea to Kickoff New School Year through Online Classes

South Korean Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun announced on Tuesday that the new school year will begin despite the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. However, instead of in-school sessions, online classes will be offered to students, Chung noted.

According to the Yonhap News Agency, Chung did not elaborate on the details of how the schools will be introduced to online classes but he noted that the process will be done step-by-step starting April 9.

South Korea's new school year usually begins in March but the CoVID-19 threat has kept the education department from allowing schools to reopen. Chung said students should be provided with Internet connection and computer access.

North Korea has largely been mum about the coronavirus situation in the country. However, state media on Monday revealed that colleges across the country are now offering online programs for students.

The news came amid reports that Pyongyang has moved to extend winter vacation for university students amid the coronavirus threat.

The extent of the CoVID-19 strain's invasion in North Korea is unclear. The government has repeatedly denied in the past weeks that the country has infected patients.

Indians Fear Health Sectors' Ability to Cope with CoVID-19 Crisis

India is under lockdown and draconian measures have been put in place against people who violate the government's guidelines on staying at home.

Force is the main weapon that police in the country use to keep people from stepping out and ensuring that they will abide by the government's guidelines on the 21-day lockdown, Aljazeera reported.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis, some citizens are reportedly worried about the possibility that the CoVID-19 strain will spread in poorer communities. Furthermore, there are talks of how the public health sector will handle the ballooning number of infected cases in the country.

As of Monday, India has reported at least 1,251 confirmed CoVID-19 cases and at least 30 deaths.
