There are no new countries reporting the first new cases of COVID-19 in the past 23 hours (March 29 to March 30). With regard to how WHO reports on this matter, the trend for the past days is uplifting.

Only two new countries reported their first cases on March 27. There have been no new countries on March 28 and only one country that reported new cases on March 29.

As of March 30, there are 509,164 total COVID-19 cases plus 46,484 new cases in the past 24 hours. Deaths all over the world are now at 23,335 plus 2,501 fatalities reported overnight.

The United States still leads the number of confirmed cases as of Monday night. The country now has 164, 274 confirmed cases plus 19,332 new cases. 2112 people died already. Just within the past 24 hours, 444 succumbed to the infections.

In Europe, Italy remains to be where the highest alarm is with a total of cases at 101,739 plus 5217 new ones in the past 24 hours. Deaths remain highest across the region with 10,781 total and 758 new fatalities as of Monday night.

The European region is currently believed to be the epicenter of the virus with at least eight countries reporting more than 11,000 infections.

Outside Italy, Spain has the highest number of infections at 87,956 total cases, 6549 new cases, 6528 deaths, 838 new deaths.

Here are the other countries in the European Region that recorded more than 11,000 cases of COVID-19:

Outside of Europe, except China, Iran also recorded the highest number of cases. The number of cases is comparable to countries in the European region.

41,495 Iran

In Asia, next to China is South Korea with 9876. Both China and South Korea, however, have reported fewer and fewer infections and deaths as days go by.

In fact, the 48 new cases reported on Monday by China's National Health Commission were all imported. The country did not report cases of local transmission. The Asian country which used to be the epicenter of the outbreak is now worried about cases of infections from people coming abroad.

Meanwhile, life is starting to go back to normal in Wuhan as it reported no new infections for the seventh straight day. China has already eased strict quarantine measures. Businesses were already allowed to start operations. The Wuhan people will soon be allowed to travel outside the city by April 8.

As China re-starts normal life, the Philippines is only starting to realize the magnitude of the pandemic. The developing nation only has 1,418 total cases of infection, plus 343 new cases and deaths are at 71, plus 3 fatalities. This number is already enough to overwhelm the nation's poor health system.

Some of the deaths in the country are doctors and front liners. Filipinos are calling out Rodrigo Duterte's government for limited testing with reportedly VIPs being the ones tested first more than the masses.

Nationwide in the Philippines there are strong calls to render mass testing with priorities to healthcare workers and people with direct contact with patients, PUMs, and PUIs. What happening right now, according to accusations from netizens, is that political figures and their families are the ones being tested. Worst is that, allegedly, for those with symptoms, it takes at least seven days for them to get their results while politicians get theirs in as little as 24 hours to three days.
