Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed in their withdrawal announcement that they wished to be “financially independent.” Since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will no longer get any funding from the Firm after their official step down, the pair needed to find sources of income to pay for their lavish lifestyle.

With Meghan Markle being an actress before marrying Prince Harry, the couple seemed to be heading towards the entertainment industry for their new life. However, a new report claims that the Duchess of Sussex’s Hollywood comeback is “underwhelming.”

Before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their withdrawal, the former actress gave everyone a taste of their possible future job by lending her voice to a Disney documentary titled Elephant back in August last year, which is about elephants in Africa. After the launch of the documentary, early reviews revealed that Meghan's vocal performance was not impressive.

“Meghan is swapping pomp and circumstance for schmaltz and cheesiness. The departing Duchess of Sussex narrates Disney’s tale of a herd of elephants crossing the Kalahari Desert from the Okavango delta to the Zambezi River, and boy does she lay it on thick,” Ed Potton from The Times wrote. “The silken tones that Meghan employed on the legal series 'Suits' and which were often muzzled during her time as a full-time royal are now given free rein. And yes, she certainly has an actor’s way with a phrase and a likable sense of mischief. ‘Oh! Who did that?’ she coos in mock disgust when one of the elephant calves breaks wind. The sense of performance, though, often feels overegged. Even the underwhelming moment in which the elephants rip some bark off a tree is presented like the announcement of the winner for best picture."

An earlier report even claimed that Queen Elizabeth found Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s video with Disney CEO Bob Iger at the London premiere of The Lion King to be cringe-worthy.

In the video, Prince Harry said: "Next time you need any voiceover work, we can make ourselves available. Anything like that. Just not Scar. That's a no to Scar.” Meghan Markle then added, ”That's really why we're here, to pitch.” Jon Favreau, who directed and produced The Lion King, could then be seen smiling.

Royal expert Tom Steinfort said that Her Majesty may not be too pleased with how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are “selling” themselves.

“Surely there’s a cringe factor though?” he said. “Particularly the Queen would be watching on thinking, ‘why are members of my family selling themselves off to the highest bidder?’”
