The New York Knicks are reportedly considering Elton Brand of the Philadelphia 76ers at their helm but it appears that interest holds low chances. The former NBA player has done a great job with the Sixers the past years although his last move remains questionable.

Before the current NBA season, the Sixers took in Al Horford. While there is no question that the veteran has proven himself through the years, his age and the contract awarded was criticized. Most felt that the Sixers overlooked Horford's value although some saw the move as a way to bring in veteran presence and guide the likes of Joel Embiid moving forward.

According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Knicks have expressed interest in Brand. Leon Rose is the new top brass over in Gotham and a major revamp from the top officials down to the players is expected. One position they have yet to fill up is the head coaching position which is currently held on an interim basis by Mike Miller. He took over from David Fizdale who was fired for failing to show progress for the team this season.

As for the Sixers, the team has been struggling and Brand has been barely mentioned or blamed. Injuries have been the main problem, hinting that Brand may need to do some scouting and pull off some deals moving forward. But with the NBA on break, all that is also on hold.

Like most sports leagues, the NBA finds itself on pause due to the coronavirus. In a way, the lull could help some players over at the Sixers' end such as Ben Simmons and Embiid. Both are nursing injuries and the added time off could work for them if ever the season resumes.

If not, Brand could cook up some deals in the offseason. Shooting has been the main problem for Philly and this is likely to be addressed before the next NBA season.

For the Knicks, they do have their work cut out for them. They are on rebuilding mode yet again after disappointing once more this season. Tom Thibodeau has been mentioned as a possible next head coach while some players could be dealt in the offseason. It appears no one will be spared this time around except perhaps for young stars like RJ Barrett and potentially Julius Randle. Compared to the 76ers, the Knicks are pretty much in a tougher spot, a reason why Rose needs someone who has a proven track record for revamping purposes.
