Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially bid their goodbye as senior members of the royal family on their now-defunct Instagram account, Sussex Royal. However, one royal expert believed they might still continue using the said page after they made some tweaks without fans' knowledge.
The Sussexes posted their farewell message on Instagram on March 30, a day before they officially stepped down as senior royals. However, according to People, they made some tweaks on their account, like turning off the comment section on their posts. All the previous comments on their posts are no longer visible, and their followers can't also leave new comments.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle can no longer use the name, Sussex Royal. They can't update their Instagram and official website anymore because Queen Elizabeth banned them from using this brand. In their lengthy post, they just signed using their first names, Harry and Meghan. Although it "will remain in existence online for the foreseeable future," the couple's spokesperson clears that it will be both inactive.
Aside from turning off the comments section, they also changed their follow list. This year, they started to follow one Instagram account per month to promote inspiring pages. Now, they are following three pages at once. They followed their pick for January, @goodnews_movement, February, GlobalPositiveNews, and March, @tanksgoodnews, which all share uplifting and positive news stories.
With all these changes, Daily Express noted that royal expert Laney Lui believed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might have no plans to shut down their account completely. In an episode of ABC's Heirpod, she explained that although the Instagram page would be inactive, they might give an update about their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, especially his birthday comes near.
Archie is about to turn a year old in May. As the pair usually gives their followers "Archie gifts and little Archie drops" in the past, it may not be impossible that they will post a big birthday wish for his first birthday.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may not just let their son's first birthday pass by without marking this the important milestone in his life. So, fans are expecting to see a new photo of Archie on their account, or it may be possible that they will do a new page of their own to update their fans. "I'm really, really curious about what is going to happen by that date and what may or may not be in place," Lui said.
