Outlander Season 5 Episode 7 has left fans a shocking death and huge cliffhanger before it went into a short break. When the series returned this weekend, fans would be treated with more shocking events and one could involve Claire.

As fans began to speculate on how Season 5 would end, many turned back to Caitriona Balfe's (Claire) statement during the Television Critics Association press tour earlier this year. The actress admitted Season 5 is not Claire's season and there is nothing much about the character in Diana Gabaldon's fifth novel, The Fiery Cross, in which Season 5 is based on.

However, Balfe said the writers managed to come up with a storyline that is very challenging for her and it will be revealed towards the end of the current season. The Irish actress added the storyline was from the sixth novel, A Breath Of Snow And Ashes.

"I have a storyline towards the end of the season that's very challenging...It's a storyline we've brought in from book six (A Breath Of Snow And Ashes), and it was really challenging material," DigitalSpy quoted Balfe as saying.

It is worthy to note that the actress had the same revelation in an interview with members of the media on the set of Starz drama last year. This made many fans concoct some theories of what it could be.

Some speculate that Balfe could be talking about the abduction of Claire in A Breath Of Snow And Ashes book by a group of men including Lionel Brown (Ned Dennehy) which the Fraser couple met this season. Claire had another encounter with Lionel in the recent episode when he caused trouble at her battle hospital and smashed her only syringe.

In the sixth book, Jamie's (Sam Heughan) wife had a horrific experience in the hands of these men. Claire's kidnapping could be the Outlander Season 5 finale cliffhanger.

Some also guessed that Claire will be accused of witchcraft because of her skills as a healer in the ridge. Nothing is certain at the moment but these are enough for fans to stick around the season finale.

So far, Outlander Season 5 has aired seven episodes. There are four more episodes before the finale on May 10.

Outlander Season 5 will return on April 12 with a brand new episode, titled "Famous Last Words." In this episode, the Fraser family will be dealing with the aftermath of Murtagh's (Duncan Lacroix) death and the possible hanging of Briana's (Sophie Skelton) husband, Roger (Richard Rankin).
