Harry Kane seems pretty content with Tottenham but that does not mean a move to other teams is out of the question. There is that lingering possibility and a former Hotspur explains why a 26-year-old striker could still entertain transfer moves.

According to Dimitar Berbatov, who played for Tottenham from 2006 to 2008 before moving to Manchester United, Kane may decide to leave if the Spurs are unable to prove they can win trophies. It may be too early to tell for now but remains a possibility moving forward. Like most footballers, Kane wants to play for a team with a winning tradition. And if that aspect is not addressed, expect the English striker to weigh his options and see if that desire can be aligned on other teams, Betfair reported.

"This week I also saw some comments from Harry Kane, he loves Spurs but if they aren’t going to be producing trophies then maybe it is time to leave," Berbatov said.

Hence, it is not just about winning one trophy but a run that leads to a legacy. Kane already said that he was happy being in Tottenham but the coming years could alter that claim. And if ever he does decide to make a jump, it will not be an easy one to make. Berbatov admits it was a difficult decision to move out of Tottenham during his time and feels that Kane will pretty much encounter the same.

"When I left Spurs, even though I had won a trophy with the club it was a still difficult decision to make. I was following my own path and I knew that people wouldn’t be happy, but I had to do it, I come from a small country and when one of the biggest clubs in the world came in for me it was my dream," Berbatov said.

For now, Kane is focused on getting better from a hamstring injury he sustained back in January. Despite being out of action, transfer rumors have not spared the 26-year-old booter from potential transfer talk. With football action likely to get scrapped unless the COVID-19 issue shows some positive development, Kane's return to action will likely be no earlier than next season. By that time, Tottenham could have new players in tow, hopefully, the right mix that can deliver trophies. Kane will factor that in as far as his playing future is concerned, a reason why the Spurs need to properly assess and sign the right players to make realistic title-runs.
