Prince Harry was using the surname Wales when he was still at school and in the army. However, he is no longer using this. Also, the Duke of Sussex had always used Mountbatten Windsor, which is his royal family name, but he is not using this anymore as well.
The shocking change was seen in the registration documents for a new sustainable tour firm Travalyst. The paperwork revealed that Prince Harry dropped his royal surname and registered as Prince Henry Charles Albert David, Duke of Sussex.
When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced earlier this year that they will be stepping down as senior royals to focus more on their family and charities, they accepted the consequences of losing their HRH titles and the Duke of Sussex’s military title. The couple is also be banned from using the word “royal” in their future activities.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle then released a statement that they had no intention of using the “Sussex Royal” brand after they officially leave their roles. Reports then claimed that the couple was set to close down their Sussex Royal Foundation as they start their new life outside the Royal family.
Last week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed their new foundation Archewell. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared that they were inspired by the word “Arche” for their new foundation, which is also the name of their son.
"Before SussexRoyal, came the idea of Arche - the Greek word meaning source of action. We connected to this concept for the charitable organization we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son's name. To do something of meaning, to do something that matters,” the couple said. “Archewell is a name that combines an ancient word for strength and action, and another that evokes the deep resources we each must draw upon."
However, people are not as impressed with the name as many may expect. Some even compared it to two controversial brands such as Tom Cruise’s religion and Gwyneth Paltrow’s wellness and lifestyle company.
As if that’s not enough, internet trolls made fun of the Archewell Foundation website when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle forgot to register the domain name. The trolls managed to redirect the link of the charity to Kanye West's “Gold Digger” music video.
