Princess Anne graced the cover of a magazine in honor of her 70th birthday in August and gave a candid interview about almost everything. The Princess Royal talked about a variety of things, from her supposed job if she's not a senior royal to her fashion sense to how younger royals should approach their royal works and duties.
Although Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip's only daughter didn't name anyone, she believes the royal family's approach to charitable work doesn't need to change, although younger royals think it should. "I don't think this younger generation probably understands what I was doing in the past, and it's often true, isn't it?" she told Vanity Fair.
People usually don't look at the previous generation and see if they do that or go there. The way Princess Anne sees it today, younger royals look for a new way to do things. As a fulltime working royal throughout her life, she's already at the stage where she doesn't see the need to "reinvent the wheel." "We've been there, done that. Some of these things don't work. You may need to go back to basics," she added.
She also talked about her parents and their continuous work despite their age. Princess Anne explained that both of her mom and dad rightly made decisions about their inability to spend enough time doing one thing and their need to find someone else to do it. Princess Anne agrees that Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's decision makes a lot of sense to her, admitting that they have been in their seats longer than she expects.
It cannot deny that Princess Anne is doing things right as one of the fulltime working royals. She is even named as the "hardest working royal" for completing most royal engagements in years. She also gets praise for her straightforward but friendly approach.
But if she's not born a royal, Town & Country reveals that she may have been an engineer. She seems to be fascinated by how things work. However, she thinks it is a little early in the "sort of scheme of things" to go down that route.
Princess Anna doesn't explain what she means about the "scheme of things, but she reveals her support for the women in engineering. Hence, she may be referring to the existing sexism in the industry.
Meanwhile, talking about herself, Princess Anne dubbed herself as a "boring old fuddy-duddy." Discussing her thrifty fashion sense of recycling her vintage outfits, she simply said that is because she's "quite mean."
